Artist’s Note:

While a fellow resident at The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, I created a series of monumental paintings, each 10 feet wide and 15 feet high. Each of those paintings depicted an angel, which symbolized a single color of the six-colored spectrum. Three primary colors, i.e. red, blue, yellow, and three complimentary colors, i.e. green, orange, and violet.

In the spring of 2023, 28 years later, I created a series of angels’ heads. Each of these images represents one color from the six-colored spectrum.

RED– looking straight and far, merciless
YELLOW - youthful, curious
BLUE – tranquil, calm
VIOLET – where the blue is predominant over the red
ORANGE – enabling one to see it from the farthest distance
GREEN – calming effect, pacifying effect
